A few days ago the world received some very bad news, regarding the much anticipated fourth film in the ReAnimator series of films. It seems that House Of ReAnimator is now a no go according to both JeffreyCombs.com and SciFi.com. This is extremely disappointing to hear, as much as I am a huge fan of Mr Jeffrey I am also a massive fan of the lovely and extremely sexy Barbara Crampton. This movie would have brought the two them back together on the screen once more, for their fifth or sixth (depending on how you want to look at it) motion picture pairing.
Fifth or Sixth? Yes I say this because of "Pulse Pounders (2002)", why? Well basically because the movie was never released. Pulse Pounders was mainly made up from archival footage, and was a Twilight Zone-esque kind of anthology movie. The segment that Jeffrey and Barbara were featured in, was a sequel to the Trancers or Future Cop (as it is known in Australia) series of movies. The segment also featured Tim Thomerson in his last outing as Jack Deth, the movies hero. Whilst there were 6 Trancers movies actually released, Thomerson declined to appear in the sixth one. I guess he was over the role, so to speak.
It is unclear what role Jeffrey actually played in Pulse Pounders, as his official site states he played "The Evil Clergyman" whereas IMDB states David Warner played that role and doesn't list the name of the character Jeff played. I guess the only way to confirm this would be to ask Jeff himself, either that or to have the film actually released. The later would be the nicer option, I know I want to see it as much as I am sure Daria from JeffreyCombs.com would want to.
Well I have detracted from the point enough now, here is what SciFi had to say with their in depth interview with Jeff.
'Blame it on Stuart Gordon shooting his mouth off too much about it being a political movie or just the climate of the times, but star Jeffrey Combs told SCIFI Wire that the much-anticipated House of Re-Animator sequel likely won't be happening.
"I wish I could give you a better prognosis, but that is one of the most-asked questions I've been getting lately, and it's not even close to getting made," Combs said in an interview. "Too many people feel the heat, and studios are wary of the subject matter."
Gordon, who helmed the first Re-Animator in 1985, wanted to make the latest installment with Combs, reprising the role of Dr. Herbert West, who can bring people back from the dead. Gordon and Combs plan to talk about the series at the Full Moon Convention in Little Rock, Ark., on Oct. 26. The original film was based on a story by H.P. Lovecraft.
Combs (USA's The 4400) described the movie's problem: "The latest idea is too on the nose, because it's about a vice president who has a heart attack and dies, which is terrible, because he runs the country, and a kind of Karl Rove-ian character brings Herbert to the White House to revive him. All is well for a little while, and then, of course, havoc has its day. A lot of people they took the idea to didn't want to touch it. And, of course, the real power in it would be to get it out before they are out of power."
Combs has discussed with Gordon the idea of masking the people in the White House. "My argument is that you can make it a corrupt [presidential] administration, but not necessarily this one, and then it's in Dr. Strangelove territory and the people are not so recognizable," Combs said. "Believe me, I've had this conversation many times with Stuart."
In any case, Combs said that he doesn't really agree with mixing politics and Re-Animator. "Melding political humor and reanimation hasn't happened before, so why now all of a sudden is it Michael Moore Meets Re-Animator?" he asked. "I'm as outraged as the next guy about what's going on in the country, but I think we can be less on-the-nose about it and still make the same points. But Stuart is rather tenacious, so he may still get his way someday." Combs will next be see reprising his role as another doctor in the Oct. 16 DVD release of Return to House on Haunted Hill.'
Well maybe there is still hope, I guess we will all find out more about it after the "Full Moon Convention" in Little Rock on October the 26th. It had been previously mentioned, that it may end up as a "Masters Of Horror" episode which I detested the thought of. Now that option is starting to look good for me, budgetary reasons were given for this idea. I have thought of an idea which which would solve that problem for Gordon, set up an investment company with listed shares for the movie. Then fans would get to see the movie they wanted, and at the same time have the option to profit out of it. Everyone would be happy then, wouldn't they? This could also make it a much higher budgeted movie as well. JeffreyCombs.com seems to share this idea, as well. 'Til next time all.

This Site Is Not Dead
Hello all, if you had been a visitor here before and had kept coming back you may have jumped to the conclusion that it had been abandoned. That would be a fair assumption, but if that was what you concluded you were wrong. There has been very little information or progress on the announced fourth film in the ReAnimator series, House Of ReAnimator. Although the ReAnimator movies are the main topic or guts of this site, other things will start to emerge shortly.
I will also be devoting attention to other movies that Jeffrey Combs and Barbara Crampton have appeared in together. That's probably more than you think. I will also start writing about other mediums, such as the ReAnimator audiobook and also cover merchandise as well. First up though, I would like to bring to your attention an error on Jeffrey Combs Official site. That's right the one I used to work on, its nothing major and US fans would not even see it as being an error but it is.
Recently, Jeffs site reported the DVD release of "H P Lovecraft's From Beyond". The site mentions it is the first official release, this is completely untrue. Sorry Jeff, I don't mean to offend you mate. What the site should have stated was that it is the first official US release on DVD. I personally own a copy of the 2000 release, which came out in Germany. Although it is a german release, the disc does give you the option of the original English audio.
The US or zone 1 release, which came out on the 11th of September this year is the Director's Cut and not the cinema released version. I am yet to see this version, which is a bit of a first for myself just ask fan club president Cynthia Zimmerman. That's if Cynthia is still there, the staff page has now been removed so I can't confirm this, oh well. There are many differences though between the 2 editions on disc, most noteably I suppose the fact that the Directors Cut is in 16:9 where as the 2000 release is only in pan and scan.
The DVD extras are as folows for the "Director's Cut"
• Audio commentary by Gordon, producer Brian Yuzna and stars Jeffrey Combs* and Barbara Crampton
• The Director’s Perspective featurette (including an interview with Stuart Gordon done by the owner of the horror store, Dark Delicacies)
• The Editing Room “Lost and Found” featurette
• Interview with Composer Richard Band
• Photo Montage
• Storyboard-to-film comparisons:
- Introduction
- Appearance of Dr. Pretorius
- Death of Bubba
- Hospital Escape
- Katherine Frees Herself
This disc unlike the ReAnimator Millenium Edition, is only a single disc. Still a worthy addition to your library, if you are an avid collector like myself. This disc will sit proudly next to my german release of the original. The cover art for both versions can be seen below.

'Til next next time peoples, hopefully that's sooner rather than later.

ReAnimator (MUSIC VIDEO)
This has got to be one of the worst songs that I have ever heard. I stand by this statement, 100 percent. Well people, personally I used to be a DJ. I did it for roughly 14 years, both as a mobile DJ and later on as a Club DJ. Never in my life though, was I forced to play such pure unadulterated CRAP! Whoever it was that had the idea that singing about corpses, in the style of Barbie Girl by AQUA was good should be shot.
This "Music" Video, and I use the term music in its very loosest form here. Is only really here, because it actually contains footage from Beyond ReAnimator. Very little of it as well, but what it has are good scenes from Beyond ReAnimator. Its funny but its terrible at the same time. I am hoping that the group responsible for this have disbanded, or at the very least changed direction. If you haven't guys, please consider doing so. My ears were bleeding, after literally 30 seconds of this rubbish.
One interesting point about the music video though, is its inclusion of an end title sequence. Why? I really can't explain it, it almost indicates pride. I hope they don't want us to believe this is ReAnimator 3.1, or Beyond ReAnimator: The Directors Cut or something similar. You know what I mean. I usually finish off a post like this, with enjoy. Well if you are deaf then you will, otherwise it may be best viewed on mute. That's what I think, you make your own judgement. Feel free to use the comments link under the post, if you like. Here it is any way.

Beyond ReAnimator (SPANISH TRAILER) - R3
If you have stumbled across this site, and don't have a clue what the ReAnimator series of movies are about, check out the trailer for the third movie Beyond ReAnimator (SPANISH TRAILER). A word of warning, all of the series are rated R. So if you are minor, or have a weak stomach don't press play. Remember, it's only just the trailer the actual movie is a lot more graphic. Any way, I really just posted this one so you all could see what the movie is like in another language. I can't even speak Spanish. Here it is, enjoy.

First HOUSE, then UNBOUND and finally BEGINS!
The name of the title of the next installment in the ReAnimator series, has been known now for quite some time. It is of course House Of ReAnimator. The next two though after it have not, until now. They are ReAnimator: UNBOUND and ReAnimator: BEGINS, or so IMDB tells us. Mind you IMDB has been known to get things wrong in the past, as it has in the present and will probably still get things wrong in the future.
The source doesn't appear to be reliable, as it is only in the comments section of the post. But hey, it had to have come from somewhere didn't it? What is written seems quite plausible, but could turn out to be just simply an over zealous fan wanting his turn at reporting news.
Brian Yunza, Stuart Gordon, Jeffrey Combs and Barbara Crampton seem to have at least confirmed that House Of ReAnimator is a work in progress, even though production has not commenced yet. This has been mainly due to funding that it hasn't started yet, as finding backing is their problem at the moment.
The author of this information, goes by the name of "DrMulholland". Maybe he'll see this and respond, at least then we should find out where this information came from. For the time being though, this is what he has to say about the proposed new trilogy.
"Three more ReAnimator films with which to resolve the saga of Herbert West. The proposed first one, House Of ReAnimator would have West being called to the White House to re-animate the deceased Vice-President. Of course, by the time the dust settles, even the President has been re-animated and West is the power behind the throne.
The second would be ReAnimator: UNBOUND! West would have his own freedom amidst a war zone. There his experiments take him directly in conflict with religion and face to face with the Old Ones of Lovecraftian lore.
The final episode would be ReAnimator: BEGINS. After having his mind pretty much erased by the trauma of Unbound! West is brought back to his senses (during which we get to see some of West’s boyhood) by a mysterious doctor who turns out to be his mentor Dr. Gruber’s niece.
Back at the medical school in Switzerland (where it all began in the original ReAnimator) West recreates his early experiments, but makes the fatal mistake of breaking one of his basic tenants when he finds himself having feelings for....a woman."
Lets hope "DrMulholland" is right, I know I want him to be. You should also, or why are you reading this. Until next time Westies remember, Herbert didn't kill him, he gave him life.

Did I start this Blog, to soon?
Texas hosted their world famous, "FEAR FEST" convention on the weekend of March 23-25. One of the conventions guests, was none other than ReAnimator's Barbara Crampton who chatted with Dread Centrals' Johnny Butane about House of ReAnimator.
Of course he had to ask her about the status of House of ReAnimator.. since its been heard from both producer Brian Yuzna (who said they were still planning on doing a total of three more), Jeffrey Combs and Stuart Gordon (both of whom said it was all up to coming up with the cash), if nothing else he wanted to know what she thought of the idea.
What she had to say was very interesting, apparently since there is such an issue with funding and because the script is a parody of the Bush administration, there is some talk of making House of ReAnimator Stuart’s next Masters of Horror episode. Johnny Butane thinks that is the best choice as if the next season is green lighted by Showtime the funding will automatically be there, and it will get the episode out before there’s no Bush administration to satirize anymore.
As much as this guarantees the production of the movie, it makes it no longer an actual movie but a tv episode. Many fans were disappointed by the fact that Beyond ReAnimator did not receive a theatrical release, this would surely rub salt in their existing wounds. Stuart and Brian, please don't do it this way. The franchise is too good, to be destroyed as a tv episode. By this I mean all the good stuff will be watered down or taken out, as well as the length of it.
All I can say is 58 minutes versus an hour and a half or two hours, come on guys think about it. If it was done this way, you may as well do a ReAnimator Series. Hmmm . . . . that wouldn't be a bad idea, sometimes I surprise myself. Barbaras' statements, mirror that of fans postings on "House's" IMDB page. Lets hope they are all wrong.

Just Started - Introductory Ranting
Welcome people to ReAnimator Digest, a fan site set up mainly to focus on the ReAnimator series of films. Over the coming weeks and beyond, I will endeavor to bring you news and trivia regarding the announced film House Of ReAnimator. This movie I personally, along with the ReAnimator series fans across the world look forward to with great anticipation.
I have a little bit of history with Jeffrey Combs, main star of the movie. Several years back, I helped out Jeff's official site. I did this in the capacity of contributor and Assistant Webmaster, along with Donna McNutt who was the Webmaster. Perhaps she'd prefer Webmistress, just joking Donna if you are reading.
When I started at the site, I designed a t-shirt featuring Jeff. The t-shirt, I wore in a photo which was displayed on the staff page of the site. Jeff himself liked the t-shirt and asked Cynthia Zimmermann (Fan Club President), to ask me about it. I then sent Cynthia, the jpeg of the picture which I was told was going to end up on a t-shirt for him. I hope he got it, the guy's a legend.
Not a great deal of my content, ever made it to the site. This was due to a variety of problems, ranging from my inability to log into the site to hard drives dieing in my machine, with my work on them. I eventually had to give it away, due to personal commitments at the time. Okay, that's that story.
In addition to the ReAnimator movies, I will also cover other movies Jeffrey Combs and Barbara Crampton have appeared in together. Their career paths have crossed several times, so far all being horror films except for Trancers II. So that's the guts of this blog site, ReAnimator, Jeff, the lovely Barbara and personal rantings. I hope you like it.
